Overview

Digital Image Correlation (DIC) is an optical method that employs tracking and image registration techniques for accurate 2D and 3D measurements of changes in images. This method is often used to measure full-field displacement and strains, and it is widely applied in many areas of science and engineering.

This release contains a MATLAB application designed and developed by ShanMukha Innovations Pvt. Ltd. that provides 2D DIC computation for whole-field in-Plane deformation and/or strain measurements.

Launch directly as an application from the Apps menu in MATLAB
Process multiple image & video formats
Images (.jpg, .tiff, .tif, .bmp)
Videos (.avi)
Cropping ROI for faster processing
Wide range of deformation measurement 100um to 5mm
Multiple plots of results saved in TIFF format - vector plot, heatmap
Processed data saved in .mat file (‘DATA.mat’ all processed variables)
Log file (contains used parameters)
Result_summary (contains mean displacements (x, y) & their standard deviations, min and max displacements)

MATLAB version 2015 or above

Assumptions/Limitations

2-dimensional deformation only; No out of plane motion
Objects with planar region of interest equidistant from the camera sensor
For estimating relative displacement vectors, two images are captured with the same experimental setup
MATLAB version 2015 or above is needed
Application was tested on Windows 10 systems only
